What to expect
The O Spa + Resort is a walled, adults-only hotel on Mesquite Avenue in Desert Hot Springs, a few blocks from the corner of Palm Drive and Pierson Boulevard. The building dates from 1958 and still has the low, single-storey shape of a mid-century motel. The current operators now run it under the name Hotel02, with The O Spa as the spa and resort brand. Both names appear on booking sites, and the old O Spa web address forwards to the Hotel02 site.
This is not a quiet wellness retreat. It is clothing optional, cannabis friendly, and built around music, sun and socialising. A Los Angeles Magazine feature described speakers around the main pool, a stage with a disco ball, a fire pit, and a crowd from LA, Orange and San Diego counties. Owner Rick Rabuck and business partner Desireé Fischer were named as the people behind it. Recent ResortPass reviews are mostly positive about the atmosphere, with a few saying the place could be cleaner.
There are 15 themed rooms around the pool, plus bungalows and a day room. Grounds include cabanas, day beds, a bocce court, a barbecue area and a shared kitchen that day guests can use.
The pools
All the pools are filled with water from the Desert Hot Springs aquifer, which the hotel says is odorless and reaches the surface at over 112°F44°C. It is cooled before it goes into the pools.
- Main pool. A mineral water swimming pool, kept at 87-90°F31-32°C in winter and 85-87°F29-31°C in summer. This is where most people spend the day.
- Large spa. A jetted hot tub at 104°F40°C.
- Cowboy tub. A stock-tank style tub in the back garden that can be run cold as a plunge or heated on request.
- Turkish shower. Also in the back garden, it runs at about 112°F44°C straight from the deep well, so the temperature shifts a little.
ResortPass also lists an indoor pool and an indoor mineral hot tub among the day pass amenities. The operator’s own water page describes only the main pool, spa and cowboy tub, so treat the indoor facilities as something to confirm when you book.
Prices and booking
There are two ways to buy a day visit.
Club H02 day membership, direct from the hotel. These are sold as dated event tickets on hotel02.com. In October 2026 a couple’s day pass was $80 on a Monday and $100 on a Saturday, plus a small service fee. Add-ons included a day bed ($35 to $50), a cabana ($75 to $175), a day room ($150 to $200) and a larger space called The Casbah ($200 to $250), with higher prices on weekends. The listings say pre-registration and membership are required for all Club H02 events. We did not see single-person tickets on those pages.
ResortPass. The app sells individual day passes from $67 per person, fees included, plus women’s and men’s passes, a couples pass from $90 and cabanas from $112. ResortPass says day passes need seven days’ notice for a refund, and that you check in at the front desk with photo ID.
Day guest hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday to Sunday. Towels, WiFi and parking are included. Spa treatments at The O Spa start at about $140 to $150. Call (760) 671-6889 for rooms, passes and buyouts.
Rules and etiquette
- 21 and over only. IDs are checked.
- Clothing optional. Nudity is allowed but not required. Wear a cover-up in the lobby, lounge and dining areas. The hotel offers sarongs.
- Consent and privacy. The hotel’s etiquette rules say never photograph anyone without explicit permission, do not stare, and accept other guests’ boundaries.
- Sit on a towel. Standard practice at clothing-optional resorts.
- Cannabis is welcomed on the property, so expect it around you.
- Pets are for overnight guests only, with fees and pre-registration.
Getting there
Desert Hot Springs sits on the north side of the Coachella Valley, across Interstate 10 from Palm Springs.
- From Los Angeles: Take I-10 east past Banning and Cabazon, exit at Palm Drive and drive north into Desert Hot Springs. Turn off Palm Drive near Pierson Boulevard to reach Mesquite Avenue.
- From Palm Springs: Head north on Gene Autry Trail, which becomes Palm Drive after it crosses I-10. The drive takes about 25 minutes.
Parking is free in a lot next to the property. Palm Springs International Airport is the closest airport.
When to go
The Coachella Valley is at its best from November to April, when days are warm and nights are cool enough to make the 104°F40°C spa feel right. Weekends are the party days here, with events running until midnight. If you want a calmer pool, go Monday to Thursday.
Summer days often top 100°F38°C. The main pool is cooled to 85-87°F29-31°C in summer, and the hotel keeps air-conditioned rooms, but midday sun on the pool deck is hard going. Coachella and Stagecoach festival weekends in April bring crowds and higher prices across the valley.
Where to stay nearby
The O Spa is a hotel, so most soakers stay on site. If you want a different style of place in town, Desert Hot Springs has many small mineral water hotels. A few that we cover:
- The Spring Resort and Spa, a quiet adults-only spa hotel on Miracle Hill.
- Tuscan Springs Hotel and Spa, a 16-room, 21 and over hotel with mineral pools and day passes.
- Aqua Soleil Hotel and Mineral Water Spa, a family-friendly option on Palm Drive.
Palm Springs, about 25 minutes south, has far more hotels and restaurants.
Safety notes
- Heat and alcohol: A 104°F40°C spa, desert sun, alcohol and cannabis are a bad mix. Drink water, keep soaks short and get out if you feel dizzy.
- Sun: There is little natural shade at midday. Book a cabana or day bed in summer, and use sunscreen on skin that rarely sees the sun.
- Hot shower: The Turkish shower runs at about 112°F44°C. Test it with a hand before stepping under.
- Getting home: Late weekend events end at midnight. Plan a ride if you have been drinking.

The O Spa + Resort (Hotel02): common questions
Is The O Spa clothing optional?
Yes. The resort says guests can wear as much or as little as they like, but nudity is never required. It asks for a cover-up in the lobby, lounge and dining areas, and themed events can have their own dress code. ResortPass reviewers have noted they did not realise it was clothing optional, so read the fine print.
How much is a day pass at The O Spa?
ResortPass sells day passes from $67 per person, fees included, plus a couples pass from $90. The hotel also sells Club H02 day memberships for couples directly. In October 2026 these were $80 on a Monday and $100 on a Saturday, plus a service fee. Day beds, cabanas and day rooms cost extra.
Is The O Spa adults only?
Yes. The hotel has a strict 21 and over policy, and ResortPass says IDs are checked on arrival.
How hot are the pools at The O Spa?
The operator says the main pool is kept at 87-90°F31-32°C in winter and 85-87°F29-31°C in summer, and the large spa at 104°F40°C. A cowboy tub in the back garden can be a cold plunge or heated on request, and the Turkish shower averages about 112°F44°C.
Is The O Spa the same as Hotel02?
Yes. The property at 11740 Mesquite Avenue now trades as Hotel02, with The O Spa as its spa and resort name. The old theospahotsprings.com address leads to the Hotel02 site.
Can I bring my dog to The O Spa?
Overnight guests can bring dogs or cats if they pre-register and pay $50 per animal per night. Pets must be leashed in common areas. The pet policy does not say day guests can bring animals, so ask before you arrive with one.
