What to expect

Sea Mountain Nude Resort & Spa is a small, adults-only resort in Desert Hot Springs, the mineral-water town across Interstate 10 from Palm Springs. It has 15 guest rooms around a heated mineral springs pool, a whirlpool, a cedar sauna and tanning gardens. The pool and whirlpool are open 24 hours for overnight guests, and the resort is open every day of the year.

Be clear about what kind of place this is before you book. Sea Mountain is not a family naturist park or a quiet spa hotel. It describes itself as a “lifestyle” resort and a sensual boutique hotel, it admits only couples and single women, and it runs evening parties and themed events in its Club Taboo Gardens. The spa areas are clothing-free. If that is what you are after, it has been doing this since the mid-2000s. If you just want a mineral soak, the many other small spa hotels in Desert Hot Springs are a better fit.

The resort trades under several names. Its two official websites call it Sea Mountain Inn and Sea Mountain 21 Spa Lifestyles Resort, booking sites list it as Sea Mountain Inn Nude Resort and Spa, and the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce lists it as Sea Mountain Nude Resort & Spa. They are all the same property. Our separate Sea Mountain Inn page covers that history.

The pools and spa

The resort describes its main pool as a 24-hour heated mineral springs swimming pool, with a mineral water whirlpool next to it, a cedar wood sauna, misters for summer and gas lamps for winter evenings. Desert Hot Springs sits over a hot mineral aquifer, and Sea Mountain is a short walk from Miracle Springs Resort on Palm Drive, one of the larger spa hotels in town. The resort does not publish water temperatures, so we have left them out.

Massages for one or two people are offered on site by independent certified therapists. The resort says massages are therapeutic and non-sexual. The tandem massage uses female therapists only.

Getting there

The resort’s street address, 66540 San Marcus Road, Desert Hot Springs, is public in the Chamber of Commerce directory and on the resort’s event listings, but Sea Mountain sends its map and arrival directions only after you have booked. That is part of its privacy policy, not a sign that it is hard to find.

  • From Palm Springs or the airport: About 10 minutes by the resort’s estimate. Take Gene Autry Trail north across I-10, where it becomes Palm Drive, and continue north into Desert Hot Springs.
  • From Los Angeles: Take I-10 east past Cabazon and exit at Palm Drive. The resort says the drive from LAX takes about 90 minutes in normal traffic.
  • From Ontario Airport: About 40 minutes, per the resort.

Parking is free and included with day passes. The roads are paved.

Prices and booking

All prices below are from the resort’s own 2026 pages. Ranges are wide because prices rise for special events.

Membership: Every guest must buy a membership and sign a membership contract on the first visit. The rates page lists $20 for six months; the policies page says $20 per person for a year. Some packages include it.

Day visits (10:30 AM to 5 PM):

  • VIP Premier Spa Pass: from $99 per couple. Add $149 for a private suite for the day.
  • Spa Dreams VIP All Access Pass: from $499 per couple, including two one-hour massages. Add $99 to upgrade to 90 minutes.
  • One Woman One Day: from $79, without massage.
  • One Woman One Day Dream: from $175, including a one-hour massage.

Adding the evening events costs $60 more. If you decide to stay the night, $50 of the day pass can come off a room, subject to availability. Day passes include the pool, sauna, whirlpool, garden showers, lockers, towels, parking, lunch and unlimited soft drinks.

Evening spas: Check-in runs from 2 PM to 10 PM on weeknights, and from 2 PM to 3 AM on weekends and event nights. No one is admitted to the spas after 9 PM.

Rooms: $299 to $1,599 per night for two people. The resort advertises a $299 to $459 weeknight special with blackout dates. Each extra person costs $199 to $250, which covers day and evening use with food and drinks. Breakfast is included for overnight guests.

Rules that matter:

  • Age: 21 and over only, with no exceptions.
  • Who can come: Couples and single women. No single men.
  • Clothing: Bathing suits are not allowed in the pool or whirlpools, except at special events. Towels, wraps and sarongs are fine in other areas.
  • Alcohol: The resort does not sell alcohol. Soft drinks, water, iced tea and coffee are free all day.
  • Cancellations: A credit card deposit secures the booking. Give seven days notice to cancel or move it; the policy also lists a $100 per day or night cancellation fee.
  • Refusal: The resort reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

When to go

October to May is the comfortable season in Desert Hot Springs. Days are warm and dry and nights are cool, which is when a 24-hour heated pool and whirlpool make the most sense. Winter and spring weekends are busy across the Palm Springs area, and the resort’s event calendar fills up, so book well ahead for Saturdays.

Summer brings intense heat. The resort runs misters on the pool deck, but plan to stay in the water or the shade during the middle of the day. Weeknights are cheaper year-round thanks to the weeknight room special.

Where to stay nearby

Most visitors stay on site, since evening events run late and the pool is open around the clock for overnight guests. If you only want a day visit, Desert Hot Springs has many small mineral-water hotels within a few minutes’ drive, and Palm Springs, about 10 minutes south, has the widest range of hotels and restaurants. For camping, Joshua Tree National Park is a short drive north and east.

Safety notes

  • Heat and alcohol: The resort does not sell alcohol, but if you drink before an evening event, remember that hot water and alcohol together can cause fainting. Drink plenty of water and keep whirlpool sessions short.
  • Sun: Clothing-free sunbathing in the desert means sunburn in places that rarely see the sun. Use high-factor sunscreen and limit midday exposure.
  • Consent and privacy: The resort describes a female-centric, non-body-shaming environment. Ask before photographing anyone, and follow staff direction on house rules.
  • Driving: Desert Hot Springs is spread out and dark at night. Arrange a ride if you plan to drink at an evening event.

Nearby stops worth adding

Cabot’s Pueblo Museum, the hand-built home of homesteader Cabot Yerxa, is a few minutes away and explains how Desert Hot Springs grew up around its wells. Joshua Tree National Park is close enough for a morning hike before a day visit, and downtown Palm Springs is about 10 minutes south for dinner.
