What to expect
Spa Castle Texas is a large Korean bathhouse, or jjimjilbang, in Carrollton, a suburb on the north side of Dallas. It is in this guide because people search for it alongside hot springs, so here is the plain version: none of the water is natural hot spring water. The pools and baths are heated by the building’s boilers. There is no geothermal source under Carrollton, and the spa does not say there is. Treat it as a heated pool and sauna complex, and judge it on those terms.
The building covers roughly 100,000 square feet across several floors. The draw is variety. You move between warm pools, hydrotherapy baths and a string of themed saunas, then rest on heated floors and eat Korean food without leaving the building. A visit usually lasts half a day or more.
The spa closed in late July 2025 for a multi-million-dollar renovation. It was meant to reopen on January 1, 2026, but that slipped, and it held its grand opening on July 4, 2026. Secret Dallas put the cost of this first phase at $4.5 million. Most of the money went into things you cannot see: new boilers, upgraded steam generators and a rebuilt plumbing system, which the operator says should mean hotter, steadier saunas and stronger jets.
The pools and saunas
Spa Castle has both indoor and outdoor pools, all refreshed in the renovation. Named features include:
- Mystic Pool: a hydrotherapy pool with waterfalls.
- Hinoki Bath: a Japanese-style bath built from 300-year-old pine.
- River Rock Foot Bath: new in 2026, an outdoor soaking area with a stone path meant to press on your feet as you walk.
The sauna area, called Sauna Valley, is the other half of the visit:
- Gold Pyramid: a room lined with plates the spa says are 98% gold.
- Charcoal Tower.
- Far Infrared Sauna.
- Himalayan Salt Sauna: rebuilt in 2026 with salt blocks from Pakistan. It also hosts programmed sessions such as hot yoga.
- Color Therapy room.
There are dry and wet sauna rooms as well. To cool down, there is a Korean ondol sleeping area with heated floors and a lounge serving cold drinks. The spa also has a fitness center and a day spa offering facials and other treatments, plus monthly wellness events such as yoga, Pilates, meditation and sound sessions run with local teachers.
The spa does not publish pool temperatures. Expect hot-tub warmth in the hydrotherapy pools and a cooler outdoor pool, but check the posted temperatures inside.
Getting there
Spa Castle is at 1020 Raiford Road, Carrollton, TX 75007, in the north Carrollton area that locals call Koreatown, with Korean grocers and restaurants nearby. It is a short drive from I-35E. From downtown Dallas, head north on I-35E; allow about half an hour without traffic and much longer at rush hour. From Fort Worth or DFW Airport, come in on the President George Bush Turnpike or I-635 and head north.
Most visitors drive. Plan on being there several hours, so check the parking arrangements when you buy your ticket, especially on a busy weekend.
When to go
Spa Castle is open year-round. Because the water is heated, the season matters less than at a natural spring, but the outdoor pools are most pleasant from November to March, when Dallas air is cool. Summer afternoons outside can be uncomfortably hot.
Weekends and holidays are the busiest days and cost more. Weekday mornings are the quietest. Hours were not published in a form we could confirm in October 2026, and they have changed over the years, so check before you go rather than relying on older listings that describe 24-hour opening.
Prices and booking
The online ticket shop at shop.txspacastle.com listed two admission products in October 2026:
- Web admission, weekday: $75
- Web admission, weekend: $90
When the renovation was announced in December 2025, CultureMap Dallas reported day passes of $65 on weekdays, $80 on weekends and $45 for guests 17 and under, so prices rose or changed with the reopening. Ask whether a child rate still applies. Massages, facials and food cost extra.
You do not need a reservation for a day visit, but buying online can save time at the desk.
Rules and etiquette
- Bring your own swimsuit. Since reopening, the spa no longer issues the old T-shirt and shorts uniforms, and swimwear is required in the shared pools and saunas.
- Bring a valid ID.
- Shower before you get in. This is standard in any Korean bathhouse, and staff expect it.
- Locker room customs. Korean bathhouses traditionally have single-sex locker-room baths where guests wash and bathe without clothes. Ask at check-in how the renovated layout handles this if you are not used to it.
- Keep your voice down in the sleeping area and saunas.
Where to stay nearby
Spa Castle has its own on-site One Boutique Hotel. It was left out of the first phase of the renovation; a second phase, with hotel upgrades, an 8,000-square-foot banquet space and a penthouse lounge, is targeted for the second half of 2027. Ask whether rooms are being booked while that work is planned. Otherwise, Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Lewisville have plenty of chain hotels along I-35E and the President George Bush Turnpike, and all of Dallas is within reach.
Safety notes
- Heat: The renovated saunas are designed to run hotter than before. Keep sauna sessions short, drink water between rounds, and cool off before going back in. Skip the hottest rooms if you are pregnant, have a heart condition or have been drinking.
- Wet floors: Pool decks and tiled areas get slippery. Walk, do not run, and wear sandals.
- Children: Watch kids closely around the hot pools and saunas, where they overheat faster than adults.
Looking for real hot springs in Texas?
Natural hot springs in Texas are in the far west, along the Rio Grande. Big Bend Hot Springs in Big Bend National Park is the best known, a stone tub on the riverbank fed by spring water, though Hot Springs Road has been closed until further notice since October 2026, so check before you go. Chinati Hot Springs near Ruidosa is a small, remote resort. Both are a long day’s drive from Dallas, which is why a heated spa like this one fills the gap for most people in North Texas.
