What to expect
Negombo fills a green hollow of more than 9 hectares around San Montano Bay, just west of Lacco Ameno on Ischia’s north-west corner. Pools are set among gardens on the slopes above a small crescent of fine sand, where the water stays shallow for a long way out. It is smaller and more relaxed than Giardini Poseidon on the other side of Forio, and most people come for a full day: claim a sunbed, rotate through the pools, swim off the beach, eat at one of the bars.
The spring water is hyperthermal, which means it rises above 104°F40°C. It is classed as saline-alkaline and rich in sodium chloride, and the operator says it may carry traces of radon. It is cooled into the pools, which range from 86°F30°C to 100°F38°C. Italy’s national tourism site describes sulphurous water at about 95°F35°C rising naturally from a cavern.
Ticket prices include an umbrella, a sunbed and a deckchair, which is not the case at every park on the island. There is a staffed cloakroom with showers, changing rooms and lockers (with a deposit), and luggage storage is free, handy if you come straight off a ferry. A wellness centre sells massages and treatments, and restaurants and bars sit under cover.

Prices and booking
Negombo published its 2026 price list for the low-season periods: April 23 to July 3 and September 14 to October 11.
| Ticket | Full day (8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.) | Half day (from 1:30 p.m.) | Afternoon (from 4 p.m.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 adult | €55 | €40 | €30 |
| 2 adults | €100 | €75 | €60 |
| 3 adults | €135 | €110 | €90 |
| 4 adults | €160 | €140 | €120 |
| 1 child (1-1.40 m) | €28 | €26 | €23 |
A single adult with only a sunbed in the designated areas pays €45 for the day. Multi-day passes for 3, 6, 9 and 12 days are sold too. A one-hour visit from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., without the pools, is €10. Towel rental is €8 and a bathrobe €13, or bring your own.
Children under 1 m tall go free. Above 1.40 m they pay as adults. Prices for the July to mid-September peak were not on the operator’s site when we checked in October 2026, so expect them to be higher.
You can book full-day entry online from three days before your visit until 6 p.m. the day before. Half-day and afternoon tickets are sold at the gate only, subject to space. Cards are accepted. Negombo has no agreement with Italy’s national health service, so thermal cures here are not covered.
Getting there
Most ferries and hydrofoils from Naples (Molo Beverello, Mergellina and Porta di Massa) and from Pozzuoli land at Ischia Porto, about 7 km (4.3 miles) from the park. Casamicciola and Forio are about 3 km (1.9 miles) away. Buses and taxis wait at the ports.
By bus: lines 1 and 2 run from Forio, Casamicciola and Ischia, and the CS (Circolare Sinistra) and CD (Circolare Destra) loops serve the rest of the island. Get off at Hotel San Lorenzo and walk about 500 m down towards Baia di San Montano, using the stepped path to save time.
By car or scooter: the park is on Via San Montano in Lacco Ameno. There is a paid, attended car park with an electric charging point.
When to go
Negombo is a summer park. In 2026 it opened from April 23 to October 11, every day, and it was already closed for the winter by late October. The 2027 season is announced for April 23 to October 13.
May, June and the second half of September combine warm sea water with lower prices and thinner crowds. July and August bring full sunbeds, higher prices and hot middays, when the 100°F38°C pools are hard going. Arrive early in high summer, or book a full day online.
Rain does not close the park. The pools stay open, so an overcast day can be a good, quiet day here.
Rules and etiquette
- Swimsuits are the norm in the pools and on the beach.
- No swim cap required, and no medical certificate. If you are pregnant or have concerns, the park’s medical director can advise.
- Children under 1.40 m stay out of the thermal pools. They have seawater pools and the beach.
- No pets, except certified guide dogs.
- Stay within the posted times in the hottest pools and the hammam.
Where to stay nearby
There is no lodging inside the park, though the same company runs the Hotel della Baia (hoteldellabaia.negombo.it). Lacco Ameno, a short walk or bus ride east, has hotels along its seafront. Forio, about 3 km (1.9 miles) south-west, and Casamicciola, about 3 km east, have the widest choice of hotels and guesthouses, many with their own thermal pools. Ischia Porto, 7 km away, is the most practical base if you are relying on ferries.
Safety notes
- Heat. Pools at 100°F38°C and the hammam can make you lightheaded. Take breaks, cool off in the sea or seawater pools, and drink water.
- Hot and cold circuits. The Kneipp and labyrinth pools swing between 64°F and 100°F18°C and 38°C. Go gently if you have heart or blood pressure problems, and ask the medical staff first.
- Footing. Paths, steps and grotto floors get wet and slippery. Wear sandals.
- Sun. Use the umbrella that comes with your ticket in the middle of the day.
Nearby stops worth adding
On the west coast beyond Forio, Giardini Poseidon is the island’s largest thermal garden, with 20 pools above Citara beach. Castiglione Terme is just past Casamicciola. In the south, try the free hot rock pools of Sorgeto Bay, the Cavascura baths near Sant’Angelo and the spring showers at Nitrodi.

Parco Termale Negombo: common questions
How much does Negombo cost in 2026?
In the low-season periods (April 23 to July 3 and September 14 to October 11, 2026) a full day costs €55 per adult, including an umbrella, sunbed and deckchair. A half day from 1:30 p.m. is €40 and a late afternoon from 4 p.m. is €30. Two adults pay €100 for a full day. Children between 1 m and 1.40 m tall pay €28; under 1 m they go free. Mid-summer prices were not published online in October 2026.
When is Negombo open?
Only in the warm months. The 2026 season ran from April 23 to October 11, every day from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is closed in winter. The operator has announced the 2027 season for April 23 to October 13.
Can children use the thermal pools at Negombo?
Not small ones. Children under 1.40 m tall are not allowed in the thermal pools. They can use two seawater pools (three in some months, one of them heated) and the beach, and can walk with their parents through the rest of the park. Above 1.40 m they pay the adult price and can use every pool.
Do you need a swim cap at Negombo?
No. Negombo says caps are not needed, which sets it apart from Giardini Poseidon and most hotel thermal pools on Ischia. A medical visit is not required either.
How do I get to Negombo by bus?
Island bus lines 1 and 2 (from Forio, Casamicciola and Ischia) and the CS and CD circular lines all pass nearby. Get off at the Hotel San Lorenzo stop and walk about 500 m, following signs for Parco Negombo and Baia di San Montano. The stepped path is the shortcut.
