What to expect

Ceglédfürdő is the spa and leisure centre on the north-western edge of Cegléd, a market town on the Great Plain south-east of Budapest. The full name is Ceglédi Gyógyfürdő és Szabadidőközpont, and it is run by the town’s spa company. It is young by Hungarian standards: the bath opened in 2003, the water was declared medicinal in 2004, and an aquapark, apartment park and campsite were added in 2005. In March 2026 the site received official gyógyhely (medicinal spa) status.

The water comes from more than 1,000 m down at 129°F54°C. The operator classes it as sodium chloride hydrogen-carbonate water with fluoride and iodide, with a total mineral content of 2,064 mg/l.

Indoor pools (all year)

  • Two seated medicinal pools at 93-97°F34-36°C and 97-100°F36-38°C, the hotter one with a patient lift.
  • An adventure pool at 82-86°F28-30°C and a children’s pool at 86-90°F30-32°C.
  • A therapy pool and a weight bath at 90-93°F32-34°C, used for medical treatments.

Outdoor pools

  • Two newer seated medicinal pools, each about 100 m², run all year at 93-97°F34-36°C. One of them is cooled to 82-86°F28-30°C in summer.
  • In summer only: a 700 m² swimming pool at 79-82°F26-28°C, a wave pool, an outdoor adventure pool, a children’s pool and a third seated medicinal pool.

The Aqua Centrum next door is the summer slide park, with its own ticket. There is also a sauna area with weekly sauna programmes, an adventure park, a buffet in the indoor bath and a restaurant at the strand.

Getting there

The bath is at Fürdő út 27-29, 2700 Cegléd, about 62 km (39 miles) south-east of central Budapest as the crow flies.

  • From Budapest: take the M4 towards Szolnok and leave at the Cegléd-Öregszőlő exit, then follow the “Ceglédfürdő” signs.
  • From Szolnok: take the M4 towards Budapest and use the same exit.
  • From Kecskemét: drive towards Nagykőrös, then take road 441 to Cegléd and follow the signs in town.
  • By train: get off at the Budai út stop on the Budapest-Cegléd-Szolnok line and walk about 1.5 km (1 mile), about 20 minutes, following signs. Buses from Cegléd station stop at “Termálfürdő bejárati út”.

Parking right next to the entrance is free.

When to go

The bath is open every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the pools closing at 6:45 p.m. Off-season, which runs from September 1, the indoor pools and the two year-round outdoor medicinal pools are what you get, and it is a quiet, local place on weekdays. Outdoor pools may be partly closed in bad weather.

Summer is busier and louder. In 2026 the Aqua Centrum opened on June 13, with the last day expected around August 30. If the site fills up, the bath may stop selling tickets for a while.

Saturday night bathing runs every week from 8 p.m. to midnight. Separate adults-only naturist nights take place on set dates; October 30, November 27 and December 18 were listed for 2026.

Bathing culture

Like most Hungarian town baths, Cegléd is a swimsuit bath at all normal times. Shower first, wear flip-flops and bring a towel. Swim caps are standard in Hungarian lap pools, so pack one for the swimming pool. In the seated medicinal pools people sit and talk; keep soaks fairly short and take breaks.

The naturist nights are the exception. On those dates the pools and saunas are textile-free and only adults aged 18 and over are admitted; the event has its own house rules.

Where to stay nearby

The bath runs its own Apartmanpark and Kemping next to the pools, with apartments, pitches and mobile homes; reception is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (+36 53 501 177). Autumn 2026 packages started at HUF 24,900 per night for two in an apartment. Cegléd town has more guesthouses, and Budapest is an easy day trip by train.

If you are touring baths around the capital, compare the Szent András thermal spa in Tóalmás, the Cserkeszőlő bath or Budapest’s Lukács Thermal Bath.

Safety notes

  • Children: under-14s may enter only with an adult, and under-3s must be able to show their age at the desk to get in free.
  • Heat: the hottest indoor pool is 97-100°F36-38°C. People with heart or circulation problems should check with a doctor before soaking in medicinal water.
  • Crowds: on hot summer days the site can fill up and entry may pause.
